Resurrection

res·ur·rec·tion
[rez-uh-rek-shuhn] Show IPA (noun)
1. the act of rising from the dead.
2. the rising of Christ after His death and burial.
3. arising again, as from decay, disuse, etc.; revival.
Whatever your beliefs are, nature's springtime resurrection in all it's glory fills the heart as brown branches and soil regrow their hidden life within. It's pretty magical and I like the symbolism it presents every year. Rebirth, renewal, reawakening.
Here is some proof of God and Mother Nature's little miracles...coming to you from the streets of Jersey and the beautiful Liberty State Park.

As you can see a few lovely friends snuck into these pictures...We had some dear sweet visitors...Jim, Jon, Greg and Kristen. What fun to re-connect with them and show off our springy neighborhood!

We also saw Jesus Christ Superstar. (Act One ended the day we were seeing the show...around 2000 years ago.) It was an incredible performance.
and Leap of Faith. Is there a theme this week?
Jason is very excited about the construction FINALLY happening on the roof deck! Ok ok I am really excited too. ;)
Happy Easter to all!

Suggestions

This "suggestion" blog post will be divided into two sections. NYC and...the world.
NYC
Rock of Ages!! LOVED this show. LOVED IT. I reverted back to my youth...but this "youth" being the time that was post Muppets, but pre Vanilla Ice and Paula Abdul.
It was perfect going with Miles so we could see his friend Dan play the leading role in his last week with the production. And drink wine coolers. WICKED. (as in the 80's slang terminology for "fabulous". Not a reference to that other musical playing down the street.)

We went out with the whole cast after the show and we got to chill with Constantine Maroulis who was a finalist in American Idol. He is one uber talented dude. Rock and roll.
Crazy hilarious parody of Silence of the Lambs playing in an old run down elementary school in the East village. Only in New York...
Chelsea Market. Forgot how fabulous this place was until I had yet another five hour date with my girl Jen here the other day! Love my long conversations with her.

The World
This super, Super salad.

I am on a superfoods kick and this salad kicks a skinny rear.
Spinach, raspberries, feta, almonds, cucumbers, dill, mozerella cheese, baked chicken, and no calorie raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
Other Superfoods to suggest: kiwi, sweet potatoes, greek yogurt and blueberries. Just put them in your grocery shopping thoughts and you will not be disappointed you did.

Hunger games.

Oh my gosh. So good!!!! Read the first book in two days and the only good thing about it being over is that the movie is out! Can't wait!

The Muppet Show!!!

oh my gosh muppet movie, oh my gosh.
Isn't this promo amazing?? See the cupcakes the robot is holding? I want one.
I cried about 20 times and that was only when I wasn't laughing. Sometimes I was doing both and it was very confusing yet satisfying. What a flash back to my childhood! I have vivid memories being in a stroller taking my stuffed Kermit and Ernie (poor Bert, always being upstaged) to the playground. Every Sunday night was The Muppet Show and Fraggle Rock. Jason Segal is of my generation and has written an ingenious script that has given our furry friends (who are clearly real) a huge comeback. It was directed by James Bobin who helped co-create Borat and Flight of the Conchords. This movie should have been called Adriana's Muppet Movie. If you were born between 1965-1985 you HAVE to see this movie. If you weren't, it doesn't matter, you have to go too. Bring a kid along and introduce them to some of the best characters... I mean people... I mean Muppets, in the world. Oh and one of my favorite moments was the song "Am I am man, or am I a Muppet?" I know now exactly why Bret McKenzie won the Oscar-this song is brilliant!

70 years 70

Does everyone get the title reference? I'm such a musical theater nerd it's ridiculous.
Anyways, not the point of this post...the point of this post is to wish my lovely father in law a happy 70th birthday! He just came back from a seven week RV adventure through New Zealand with his wife beside him, where they did more than one hike over hills, mountains, volcanoes and sand dunes. I know right??? 70 is totally the new 30. We surprised him with our arrival on the west coast and "duped" him with a huge party filled with his closest family and friends. (who all lied to his face all week. he keeps calling himself the "dupee") On his actual birthday we went to La Cucina Restaurant in North Vancouver and when we got home we had a very touching and emotional moment where over a "wee dram" of Macallan Scotch he went around the room describing all the things he loved about each of us the most. Leave it to Colin to be so sweet and kind on a day that should be all about him.
Seeing him so happy to be surrounded by the people he adores and who adore him back was a joy to behold. So in the spirit of the celebration of life, and love, and family I leave you with a quote from the awesome Lululemon bag of manifestos. (and yes of course I had to stop and shop at the outlet-I am in the land where Lululemon was born!)

"that which matters
THE MOST
should never give way to that which matters
THE LEAST"

C'mon resolutions, c'mon

THREE new years resolutions are well underway. They may have been 2011 resolutions but let's just ignore that fact.  Here we go.  I went to five auditions this week, one being for three major agents, so it's like saying I went to seven. Let me have my delusion of audition grandeur please! They all went well but mainly I am proud of my self overall for really being on the wagon when it comes to auditioning, eating healthy, and working out really hard. We are talking running, yoga, Pilates, Zumba, weights, you name it, I try to work it. I even got some new running shoes equipped with neon pink laces-did you know neon is WAY in right now?
I am getting these next.
and these.
They will match perfectly with my sneaks for next Zumba class.

What a week of birthdays!
I am so happy all of these people were born:
Tyler!
Jaimee!
Miles!
The Kents!
I am off on another jet plane tomorrow...have a wonderful week. How about resolving to revisit some of those resolutions? Even if they are from last year, I can guarantee better late is better than never!

Sophisticated Sunday at the Oscars

I love the Oscars.  I don't care that they are probably fixed, under-rehearsed, and as political as a presidential campaign, I love them for this.
and this:
and this!
You got it. The most sophisticated, stunning designers and dresses in the world come out this night. I really don't think I would have to win an Oscar to be happily in heaven with Badgley Mischka, Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton teams fussing over me. Well, maybe the statue would be a nice accessory in the end.

That, and Cirque du Soleil! WHAT WAS THAT?!?! I need to book my trip to Vegas NOW. Amazing amazing amazing.

A bit shocked as to how fast this week went by. I feel like I don't even know what happened. Ok it's coming back to me. I re-did my webpage a little bit...www.adrianalomysh.com...still needs a total overhaul reno but I simplified (sensing a theme here?), switched out new pictures and changed my recording clips. Got my new business cards, new thank you cards and new headshots printed...
Which leads me to my quote of the week. As actors we focus on business business business, but in the meantime we also must focus on making art and connecting with our maker to connect with our audiences. After watching the Oscars tonight one can see where that is a fairly clear distinction. Art juxtaposed with big publicity stunt. So I end with a quote from the legendary actress to win two Oscars and was first actress to be nominated for ten Academy Awards.
Without wonder and insight, acting is just a business. With it, it becomes creation.

  • Second course: Baked chicken breast marinated in honey dijon, topped with fresh basil, rosemary and goat cheese with a side of angel hair wheat pasta sauteed in garlic and butter.
  • Third course: Blackberry cabernet sorbet/whipped topping/strawberry almond cocktail.
To drink? Veuve Clicquot mais oui!
