Mama's and Malaga

Here’s to all the beautiful mothers in my life, Linda, Beth, Jaimee, Natasha, Kristy, April, Martha, Aimee, Deb...so many...but I have to say I MAY have a favorite. Hmmm yeah I definitely do...it’s this lovely lady!
I am so glad I had the opportunity to have time with her in NYC before I left. My favorite qualities about her are her humor, creativity and mostly her open generous heart. I wish her the very best, especially this week as she goes in for cataract surgery on Wednesday. I love you my Mama!

I am quickly writing all of this from Malaga, Spain. This week had a rough start with major jet lag insomnia, but I think I am well adjusted now with a couple of 8-9hr nights. That insomnia was cuhrazy, wow, very mentally straining. But on the flip side of wow, I got a chance to explore my first European port of Valencia, Spain. We went to the City of Arts and Sciences, which is a complex that includes an Opera House, music school, dozens of restaurants and the biggest aquarium in Europe. It sounds like a crazy combination, but I tell you this enormous complex is one of the most architecturally stunning places I have ever seen! WOW! Read more about it here. http://www.cac.es/

Bottle brush flowers! Can you see why?
This dolphin show was cool-the divers mimicked the dolphins and vice versa
This was the weirdest fish I have ever seen. It was like a turtle on it's side. Any idea what the heck it is???
The concrete surface was covered in water...the reflections were stunning
I loved the portrait...perfect for Mother's Day me thinks!

A Small Summary...

...Before I am off on my next adventure. Spain, Portugal, Morocco, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, and to top it off  ITALY!!!  Oh my! Only a few days in each place but I think it's safe to say my European dreams are coming true!

A lot of sorting and packing and syncing going on in my last week home...remember when the coffee spilled on my computer and then a ladder fell on it? Being the brilliant tech guru that he is, Jason has come up with a solution for me with a refurbished Mac book Air and an enormous hard drive. So hot right? ;)

Speaking of hot...
Highlights of my week were seeing Evita on Broadway with my (let's just say) teenage crush Ricky Martin!
I think he's the best looking Che I've ever seen. No, I don't have a crush on him anymore, I am merely making an observation!!!

The other highlight was seeing my girl Jen sing Hansel in Hansel and Gretel with Bronx Opera. Get ticks here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/184327. I wish I could see the final performance because she is going to be just glorious in the role. Best upstage of the night award goes to the 10 year old gingerbread boy in the children's chorus who projectile vomited INTO the pit orchestra. I had no idea how dangerous being an instrumentalist is!!!

Off to Barcelona!!

Touristing with my Mama in NYC

I don't like saying goodbye to my mommy, but I had to today after a wonderful week "taking a bite out of the Big Apple". *

We saw Peter and the Starcatcher, and sauntered about Times Square...

West Village, East Village, NoHo SoHo, made mama say, "no "Mo" walking"!*

But I wouldn't listen. We went to Liberty State Park/Ellis Island, and saw this amazing circular reflection in the World Trade Center memorial. (walked all the way there and back)

With Mama being a super trooper now, we walked the High Line. The High Line was my highlight as I hadn't had the opportunity and it is the latest greatest park in NYC built on top of an old upraised train platform on the west side of the island.

Grand finale...you betcha more walking! This time just around the local neighborhood, and had really good eats at the Light Horse Tavern and Five Guys burgers

On the boardwalk up to Hoboken we passed a sailing ship in the harbor and low and behold it was the Norwegian Star! Jason and I met on the fifth deck ten years ago!
